Fiorella Navarro, is an experienced educator in communication, business, and marketing, known for her humanistic teaching style that emphasizes empathy, inclusivity, and student-centered learning. Her thoughtful approach has consistently earned her over 97% student satisfaction.
With over 18 years of professional experience across communication, marketing, sales, and customer service in Europe, North America, and South America, Fiorella brings a global perspective to her teaching. Her career spans leadership roles in marketing strategy, business development, and curriculum design, giving her a strong foundation in education, mentorship, and student engagement. She has also played a key role in integrating modern teaching methodologies to enhance student learning experiences.
Fiorella is currently a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW), where she teaches in the Communications and Social Sciences Undergraduate Programs, including the Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, Bachelor of Commerce, and Associate of Arts degrees. She also serves as a Business and Administration Instructor at Granville College.
She is conducting interdisciplinary research on Shaping Generational Wounds, applying a Trauma- and Resilience-Informed Teaching approach that integrates self-reflection and mindfulness into her pedagogy. Acknowledging students' lived experiences, she creates a supportive learning environment that fosters personal growth, healing, and empowerment.
Passionate about sociology, Fiorella is pursuing an Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (EDI) certificate at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and is currently working on publishing her first book. Her dedication to fostering equitable and transformative learning environments reflects her vision to empower the next generation of Canadian leaders to drive meaningful and lasting change.

Mass Media and Society
Contemporary culture is developed and transmitted through mass communication. Students review mass communication’s vital role in society through discussion of media institutions, theories, practices, professional fields, and effects on society, groups, and individuals. Developing critical thinking skills to analyze the information you consume, break down media messages, and explore the rapidly changing world of communication in this digital age.
Information Gathering
The information used to develop communications materials comes from many sources. Students research and evaluate information from print and electronic records, databases, and interviews. They examine issues relating to how information is gathered, stored, retrieved, and disseminated.
Business Communication
Building the proficiency needed to succeed in today’s technologically enhanced workplace by focusing on the development of professional oral and written communication skills. Students will improve: memo, letter, email, writing and presentation skills and the ability to effectively participate in and chair meetings. Students will also develop skills in resume writing and study the strategies and techniques needed for success in interviews.
